2022 campaigns continue to hots up even as those eying the top county seat wrestle each other and position themselves at the top table of their respective parties with a hope of securing the nomination spots.
One such county, where there’s an expected bruising political battle is the Busia county, Gov. Ojaamong’ is serving his last term, a number of politiciansled by Ojaamong’s deputy, former MP Paul Otuoma, MD Meso, Woman MP Florence Mutua amongst others have declared their interest in the gubernatorial post.
Eng. Vincent Sidai’s decision to vie for the Busia county’s top seat in 2022 has not only created confusion amongst his competitors but also thrown them back to the drawing board.
Sidai just like Gov. Ojaamong enjoys a fanatical support and following in Teso region, a region key in determining who becomes the next county head. Eng. Sidai has recently said that he will be seeking to succeed Governor Ojaamong.
Sidai’s decision has put his competitors at a political quagmire, the most affected of them all being Deputy governor Moses Mulomi, who was banking on the Teso voting block and Gov. Ojaamong’s recent endorsement to easily clinch the top seat.
Sidai’s declarations has complicated things for DG Mulomi and team, sending them to the drawing board, they will have to re strategize and seek for votes elsewhere should Eng. Sidai keep true to his words, and goes ahead to vie for the county’s top seat.
The race for Busia gubernatorial post will be a hotly contested race, having attracted seasonal politicians and technocrats who are busy outdoing each other, as they try woo voters on their side.
Dr. Paul Otuoma, Woman MP Florence Mutua, John Bunyasi, DG Moses Mulomi and Eng. Vincent Sidai are the notable names that have far declared their interest in the gubernatorial seat.
