Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata has been de whipped of his position as the Senate Majority Chief Whip, this is according to themJubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju after parliamentary group meeting at KICC.
Kang’ata who has been in the wrong book with the ruling Jubilee party since his explosive letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta leaked and went viral was today relieved of his duties as the Senate Majority six months after taking over from Sen. Susan Kihika.
Kang’ata who maintained that the letter was in good faith has been already replaced by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi with immediate effect.
SG Tuju afer the PG meeting said that while Kang’ata was within his rights to express his opinion to the President, the party had an issue with the manner in which he did it, adding that the Murang’a senator was invited to meeting and asked to apologized but declined to do so. He even refused to attend a parliamentary leadership meeting, this is according to the Jubilee’s SG
Addressing journalists at KICC on Tuesday after his removal the senator said that while he wishes his replacement the very best, he insisted that all senators who spoke in that meeting supported him and added that the BBI debate should not use BBI to divide the Mt. Kenya people.
He also took a swipe at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the biggest problem that has led to the collapse of the Jubilee party. ” I am now noticing that this problem seems to have started after handshake, now imagine the guy of handshake becoming the president of this country” said Kang’ata
