Uganda’s President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has disclosed the ‘secret’ behind his shedding off weight, A diet of cassava, Irish potatoes and indigenous vegetables are the reason behind his weight cut, and they helped Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni shed 30kg.
Speaking to BBC’s Newsday presenter Alan Kasujja, the 75 year old president said that he eats some cassava, bananas, millets and local vegetable because he doesn’t eat Asian and European food, a reason why he is always fit.
“So I normally eat a little bit of that in the morning. Then no lunch, I just drink water and coffee without sugar because it’s very bad – sugar is not good,” he said
“Then at around seven [in the evening] I eat two Irish potatoes because they have got low starch, and a lot of vegetables to deceive the stomach that I am putting there something when in fact it’s just the roughage,” Added President Museveni.
President Museveni in his personal blog last month, said ” One of the contributors thought that I looked tired. I am not tired at all. I have, however, deliberately lost weight by shedding off that fat that I had allowed to accumulate on my body frame because the doctors had not explained to us clearly the mistake of not fighting fat.”
”In future, I will explain to you this awareness. I have moved from 106 kgs to now 76kgs. I will stabilize my weight at 76kgs because that is the one that matches with my height of 5.7 feet.” He continued.
President Museveni went even further to advise Ugandans to shun Western foods for local delicacies, meals which according to him, are healthier and also stave off diseases.
