President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government is keen and committed to achieving all the Four pillars in his ‘Big Four’ Agenda and leaving behind a stable economy and a long lasting impact on Kenyans. This was realized on 7th July 2020 at State House, Nairobi when President Kenyatta held a virtual meeting with Senior Ranks of the Executive that included Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries and Principal Secretaries.
In support of local industries, President Kenyatta reiterated the importance of Government leading by example and walking the talk ‘Buy Kenya Build Kenya agenda’ to enhance the local manufacturing, so that more jobs will be created as a result and help reduce the trade deficit the country is experiencing, therefore, the Head of State directed all Ministries, State Departments and State Agencies to give preferential procurement to Kenyan Made Goods and Services.
The Head of State also called for Collective Responsibility in the implementation of Government Projects and Programmes through the involvement of entire Ministerial Establishments; Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries and Principal Secretaries so as to ensure timely delivery of quality outcomes.
The President and his cabinet is committed to ensure the government embraced local Manufacturing products, creating 1,000,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector as a result and to ensure the sector contribution to GDP is raised from 8.5% to 15% and moving Kenya to Top 50 rank in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business global index.
