Baringo County Senator Gideon Moi has officially been crowned as the Late. Daniel Moi’s official political heir. Senator Moi was blessed, endorsed by elders and family members immediately after the funeral service in a short ceremony to take over the mantle of political leadership from his late father, a task he graciously accepted and promised to keep his father’s legacy and grow the independent party.
That move by the elders and family that puts the last born child of Moi in for a tough political battle ahead which will also include fighting for political space and influence in the vote rich Rift Valley region which is the Deputy President’s political base.
A seemingly surprised Senator Moi took over the political leadership of Mzee Moi’s family after his elder brother Raymond handed over the symbolic rungu to him. Raymond challenged his brother to ensure that KANU Party is revamped and glitters back like the way it was during President Moi’s times.
Gideon Moi who is said to be eying for a top seat in 2022, is serving in the Senate of Kenya, as Baringo County senator and was elected with a landslide win of over 80%, trouncing his opponent Jackson Kosgei.
He is also the Chairman of the Kenya African National Union, which for decades was the ruling party in Kenya. A party that the Late. President Moi deeply treasured and for long was Kenya’s ruling party.
