It is during her tenure as an MCA that she captured the public attention, she became a darling to many people out there owing to her beauty, her sense of fashion and her outspoken tendency which grew her popularity
Kate, as she is popularly known, is a darling to many, a fearless and outspoken legislator, she’ can be controversial at times and thus rubbing shoulders with her perceived critics. A vocal member of the #TangaTanga team which is allied to DP Dr. William Ruto.
She has hit the headlines for various reasons, she was one time allegedly kicked out of a hotel in Kericho for failing to produce a marriage certificat in company of her husband, Sunshine Uperhill Hotel at the heart of Kericho Town turned them away for not producing the Marriage certificate.
She also was once arrested at a Nanyuki hotel shortly after attending a press conference addressed by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i after she allegedly incited operators of the banned Probox and Sienta vehicles to demonstrate over police harassment
Laikipia County Women Rep has been involved in a fierce political showdown pitting on one side against Deputy Governor John Mwaniki and First Lady Maria Mbeneka on the other, The main reason for the political differences amongst the three remain unclear, though sources close to the leaders reveal that they view Waruguru as a potential threat to their future political ambitions.
So who is this Catherine Waruguru? A fine lady causing ripples not just in Laikipia County but the entire nation?
The outspoken legislator was born in Central Kenya in a humble background, attended Kanyama Secondary School in Mathira, Nyeri County (2003-2006). She later enrolled at Karatina Institute of Theological College in 2007 for a Diploma course in theology. Three years later, she enrolled for another diploma in business management at the Kenya Institute of Management.
In 2014, she was admitted to Karatina University for an undergraduate degree where she studied Business Management and successfully completed in 2016.
She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in management and innovation.
Before joining politics in 2013, she served as Access Kenya’s manager for Nanyuki zone. In 2013, defunct TNA Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta later nominated her to the Laikipia County Assembly, therefore officially kickstarting her political as she successfully vied for the Laikipia Women rep seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in last year’s polls.
